I teach in a Title I building, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch as well as a snack. Many of these students receive a free sack of food to eat on the weekend as well. Even though these students have hardships, they are ready and eager to learn.
My early elementary students walk into my room everyday full of life and ready to tell me all about their adventure last night.
We work on social skills as well as academics in order to help these students achieve to their full potential.
My Project
Students need many ways to help convey how what they need or want. By reading to students daily and discussing how to convey their needs, students will become better at getting along with one another.
Students need many opportunities to help develop socially and emotionally.
By allowing students to practice what they have read about through play, students are able to transfer their learning into other environments outside of the classroom.
Our hope is that students will use these books to help them understand how to communicate with one another. We will use the educational toys to help practice those skills we have learned.
