Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse, enthusiastic learners. They love science experiments, reading, and writing comics. Our school is a true community school, providing many supports for the families of students, and connecting families to many local resources.

My students come from various parts of San Francisco, and attend a Title I school where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch, and many families are in transition with housing.

These fifth graders are excited to engage in a bilingual classroom. They believe that school is work, and take this job seriously!

My Project

My students benefit from visual and experiential learning. In my cart, I've included materials such as a monitor and an adapter that I need to connect my computer and project the Kindle version of our books at the rug. I also have included a few beanbag chairs in order to make our classroom library feel more inviting.

My students love to care for and explore the world around them.

They love to go to the garden, but it takes a while to get there as it is off-campus. So, next year I would like to bring the garden into our classroom! By purchasing planters with wheels, we can bring our plants with us outside when the plants need extra sun, and we can also move them around the classroom to engage in different gardening and science activities.
