Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a high-need neighborhood of the NY. We are a growing school and we currently only have one classroom from grades 2 - 5. I am the third grade classroom teacher. Our school is a small, family - oriented school.
My students are budding readers and I'm hoping to truly get them excited about current events and continue to increase their reading skills. This will also allow them to start honing their critical thinking and discussion skills.
I would like each child to receive a classroom subscription to Time for Kids so that we can read about current events regularly and launch writing projects, community service projects, field trips, research projects, etc. My students are very excited about reading this year and I think it's a great way to tie in current events.
Your generous donation will allow my students to feel knowledgeable about current events that do in fact affect them. It will also enable them to practice their reading skills using current events language.
