This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, motivated, and thoughtful learners! I teach at a Title 1 school in an ICT classroom where the majority are ENLs from low-income families who come into our classrooms every day with the eagerness to become future leaders, scientists, artists, etc. Students will have an opportunity to understand how the community is facing food insecurity, and for this, I want to teach my students about the importance of creating sustainable food sources. I am requesting seeds and soil for a school garden to grow food to support the community. Soon my students will build their research skills and science knowledge through a study of the secret world of plants and pollinators. They will all focus on learning about how plants grow and survive and how these resources can benefit a community in need.

These items will offer our students the opportunity to learn and have hands-on experiences with gardening.

These gardening supplies will help our students learn math, science, nutrition, and plant life cycles. This gardening program would help teach our students about nutrition, introduce them to healthy food choices, and offer information to families.
