At our school we have fostered a love of reading in every child. This love of reading is fantastic, but not with my limited classroom library. In Reader's Workshop, students are reading 4-6 books a month with a partner. To keep this momentum we need multiple books at a variety of levels.
My students love to read.
I have students ranging reading below grade level to up to three grade levels above. They love the Percy Jackson Series and Harry Potter. Our school offers many incentives for reading, so they always have two to three books on their desk at a given time.
My Project
I am requesting an assortment of partner books to use during Reader's Workshop. With the books that will be donated, students will have access to a wider variety of text that we currently have in our class and school library. By having multiple copies of the same text, they will be able to work in partnerships to develop theories around characters.
This donation will make a world of difference.
Every child should love reading and that starts with having the books to put in their hands. These books will allow the students to work together and share their learning with others.
