My Project

As the STEM coach, I am passionate about providing my students with immersive learning experiences that extend beyond the confines of traditional classroom settings. In celebration of Earth Day, I launched a lesson centered on cultivating healthy food at home, a project that has had a profound impact on my students' educational journey. To facilitate this endeavor, I purchased three portable greenhouses with grow lights, biodegradable pots, and seed packs. This equipment not only serves as a practical tool for hands-on learning but also symbolizes our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. What sets this initiative apart is the active engagement of my students at every stage of the process. They eagerly took part in assembling the greenhouses, meticulously arranged the lighting systems for optimal growth, collaborated in planting various seeds, and diligently tended to the plants' needs through daily maintenance routines. This holistic involvement has not only enhanced their understanding of biology and agricultural sciences but has also fostered teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility towards nurturing living organisms.

As we progress, our next pivotal step is the transplantation of the thriving seedlings into grow bags, enabling each student to bring a part of this learning experience into their homes.

This final phase represents a significant milestone in their journey, providing the seedlings with the space and support necessary for continued growth and eventual harvesting of fruits or vegetables.

The anticipated harvest in a few weeks will serve as a tangible culmination of the hard work and dedication my students have devoted to this project. Beyond the satisfaction of seeing tangible results, this experience will instill in them a deeper appreciation for sustainable practices and healthy living. With your support, we can continue to expand such initiatives and empower the next generation of environmentally conscious leaders.
