Our students come from all across Kent county to learn their core classes through the Project Based Learning methodology.
We seek to foster a love of reading in our classroom.
Since starting choice reading we have seen many of our students reading more than they ever have. We continue to grow our library with current literature. It's a joy to discuss their reading with them. Their interests and personalities are showcased, and I am exposed to a lot of new literature that I wouldn't find on my own.
My Project
Students use their choice reading books to practice reading and writing every day. With our many structures in place, our goal is that our students self-identify as readers and writers by the end of our time together.
We need to keep our library up to date in order to make it relevant an engaging.
We also seek to include books that include literature that are fun (Harry Potter, Hunger Games) and includes diversity (Dread Nation, Turtles all the Way Down, The Hate You Give). Thank you in advance for your generous donations and allowing our students to choose books which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
