I work at a school that serves students from all of Kent County, Michigan called Kent Innovation High. KIH is a leader in project-based learning--a real-world approach to learning that utilizes authentic audiences and partners in the community to raise the stakes and increase student agency. If my students are going to build real-world projects, they need real-world conflicts to contend with. Choice reading is a great way to spark that interest and broaden students' world views. We want a variety of stories told. We want students to find their passions and follow them wherever that may take them. Thank you for supporting my students!
