Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first graders are intelligent, creative, and resourceful. As a group, they speak several languages, come from many different types of families, and represent many diverse types of learners. But they all have one thing in common, COVID has significantly changed their early childhood educational experience. Many have missed chances to socialize with peers, learn important lessons about cooperation, and above all to play.
It is often said that play is children's work.
I hope that these materials will help my students to work on imagining and exploring. I am asking for building materials, such as bristle blocks and brain flakes, dress-up clothes and toy food that students can use for pretend play. I am also requesting sensory materials, such as kinetic sand, that can be used over and over to develop fine motor skills and support positive socialization.
