My Students

I am a Basic Skills Instructor this year where I work with various grade levels and help kids grasp concepts in small groups. My students range from six years old to nine years old. I teach in various classroom throughout the day and I want to help students grasp concepts that they are struggling to grasp in a large group setting.

My students are hard workers who may just need additional help in a small setting to grasp the concepts taught in class.

They love to learn and are enthusiastic with their successes. They are bright, kind and energetic. They love learning hands-on and discovering new things!

My Project

Many students don't realize where the vegetables in the super market actually come from. I would like to change that for the three grade levels that I teach. I would like to teach my students to grow their own vegetables and to take pride in what they grow. I would like them to see the process of germination to the actual product. By having the items such as the organic starter kits, soil, seeds, basil dome and books, my students will be able to see firsthand how to grow and cultivate not only delicious vegetables to eat; however, we will begin to mold healthy eating habits as well! Can you imagine growing your own food at school? Then, once all of the crops have grown, imagine eating a healthy meal and salad with your classmates. What a fun way to learn and possibly they will take the skills that they learned in class and go home and plant their own gardens with their families!
