My students need appropriate building materials such as Blocks and Blueprints Learning Center, LEGOS and other consumables in order to develop the basic concepts of the engineering process.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students range from K 2-3rd grade. They are wiggly, highly motivated thinkers who can not wait to put their imaginations into gear. They love STEM class because they are able and encouraged to think, plan, build, test and share their wonderful ideas to solve problems. I love to see their faces light up with excitement every time they test their creations. Nothing like seeing their sense of accomplishment. Just as fascinating is when they have made modifications to their projects and they can see the effect their adjustments make.
Their learning styles are as a diverse and rich as their ethnicities.
STEM class provides them with a hands on learning approach that meets the variety of learning styles. The "no right or wrong answer" environment fostered allows for the shiest of the them to feel like they can be active contributors.
My Project
LEGOS and blocks are some of the most basic yet versatile materials for building. Depending on the challenge, they can become cars, towers, bridges, houses, dams, and so on. They are colorful, and safe even for young learners and challenging enough to the older ones. These materials will be a great addition to the units on Simple Machines and Motion and Stability.
These materials like the Building Brick STEM kit and Blocks and Blueprints Learning Center will encourage the minds of the little engineers as they will use them to explore the concept of having an idea, developing a blueprint and then building it up.
The consumable items such as glue and crayons are used daily in many of the other STEM challenges the students will draw and eventually build. Your donation will ensure that our future engineers will have appropriate materials that will help them bring their bright ideas to life.
