This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students belong to a proud farming community, but many of them have never had the chance to garden. Over 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and resources are limited both at home and at school. Despite these challenges, our kids are curious, hardworking, and deeply connected to the land around them. They thrive when provided with hands-on learning opportunities that reflect their lives and values.

Our vision is to create a garden that not only produces food but also nurtures minds and hearts.

We are seeking garden supplies to help our students grow vegetables and flowers in our schoolyard. With raised beds, child-friendly gardening tools, soil, compost, watering cans, and seeds, we aim to transform a small outdoor space into a vibrant learning garden.

This project will:

- Teach science standards through real-world observation and experimentation.

- Reinforce math and literacy through measuring, journaling, and planning.

- Support social-emotional learning by fostering responsibility, patience, and teamwork.

- Strengthen cultural identity by connecting students to their agricultural roots.
