My Project
As second graders, our students are full of curiosity and eager to learn about the world around them. To foster this curiosity and enhance their literacy skills, we would love to bring Scholastic News into our classroom. This resource offers age-appropriate news stories on a variety of exciting topics, such as science, history, animals, famous people, and current events. With a subscription to Scholastic News, our class will be able to engage with these topics in a way that is accessible, informative, and fun, making learning more relevant and exciting.
The goal of this project is to improve reading comprehension, critical thinking, and global awareness by introducing students to nonfiction texts that reflect real-world issues.
Each monthly issue is designed to engage young readers with high-interest stories, hands-on activities, and questions that promote deeper thinking. This project will not only support literacy development but also encourage empathy and understanding as students learn about different cultures, places, and events around the world. Through guided discussions and reading activities, students will have the opportunity to reflect on what they’ve learned and share their thoughts with peers, improving communication skills.
By providing a Scholastic News subscription, your donation will allow our class to access a wealth of current event materials that are both educational and engaging. These materials will be used to spark conversations about the world, build vocabulary, and develop reading strategies in a way that resonates with young learners. Additionally, the subscription will help students build a love for reading nonfiction and spark curiosity about a variety of topics that will stay with them for years to come. Your support will make a meaningful difference in helping our class become informed, thoughtful, and passionate about learning.
