This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At my school, many of the students come to class with things on their minds other than reading, writing, and arithmetic. Some have been homeless, while others have dealt with a parent being in prison.

Many of the students at my school have seen more tragedy in their lives than any child should have to endure.

The school is small, with the majority of students being African American and Latino, while also from low income families. I strive to make a safe environment for my students, where they can focus on furthering their education while also developing invaluable social skills.

My Project

Being a new 2nd grade teacher, I would love to grow my library and have an abundant amount of books for my scholars to further develop their reading abilities. At this level, readers are focusing more on developing comprehension skills. They are reading to learn rather than learning to read, and learning to stop and ask questions and wonder about what they are reading.

By donating to my project, you will help keep fresh and interesting books in my students' hands that will continue to make reading fun and exciting for them.

Having more books for my students will help them to strengthen their reading skills while also help them to love reading!
