My Students
I have been blessed to work with amazing young people every day. My students are intelligent, witty, caring, and charismatic and they make it a joy to come to work every single day. So much so that it doesn't really feel like work at all. I work hard to make sure my students are kind and respectful people who will be productive citizens one day. I absolutely love being their school counselor!
Many of my students have needs that require supplemental resources and accommodations that will help them be more successful at school.
My Project
The materials I am requesting for my students will be put to great use every day. Often times I can be found comforting and consoling a student for various reasons. I work with young children who can have a difficult time expressing themselves. The whiteboard easel can be used by them to draw pictures or write words to communicate how they are feeling. I also have students who use my office as a calming space when they are anxious, tense or stressed. The stress balls, fidget spinners, bean bag chairs, and sensory items will help this space be a more welcoming environment in which I will be able to help my students regulate their emotions. I do small groups and whole group social skills lessons in classrooms PreK-5th grade so the books and social skills games will come in handy for that as well.
