This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to grow plants. In the science classroom we have one wall of electrical outlets, which of course is not by the windows. This makes growing plants in the classroom difficult.
My students are active, engaged learners in the science classroom.
They enjoy doing hands-on learning investigations and also enjoy their completed projects in the science room. I teach the entire school population, K0-5th grade, both regular education and autistic.
My Project
We are an inner city school in Boston, so being able to grow plants is something my students only experience in school. Seeing the faces of my students when they are able to successfully grow a plant is the best feeling. Unfortunately, not only do I not have enough space, but light is also a factor in growing things year round. Please help make growing plants a year round project for my students.
By funding this project you will help my students become familiar with what plants need to grow, how to care for plants, and become successful horticulturalists.
This project will be used with close to 300 students ages 3-12. They will take an active role in the caring for their plants and they will also get to take home their plants when we are done learning about them.
