Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As students enter the fourth grade, all teachers hope that they have found a love of reading! Unfortunately, many students have not yet found this love due to not being exposed to different types of literature. The forty-five students I teach per year are no exception to this.

It is my hope that with my project, I can continue to build my classroom library to expose my students to different works that spark a love for reading.

The items I have listed will not only expose students to new genres of texts, but allow us to continue to build our classroom read aloud section by providing every student a copy of our main shared texts for the year.

As students and the field of education change, so does the types of literature that students fall in love with. My want to bring in additional graphic novels that were inspired by traditional texts would expose students to many of the classics that we all love and know, but in a way that students now love!
