Growing Greens Requires Planting With Things!

Help me give my students a place to be seated, a cart and tools that are much needed, and beneficial bugs to halt pests that aren't warmly greeted.

My Project

Do you know what gets fourth grade students out of the traditional classroom setting? A greenhouse! Through generous grant funding, my student's have a greenhouse where they can plant and grow their own fruits and veggies.

To help turn this space into our outdoor classroom, we need some essentials!

Stools will provide a clean, dry place to sit down while making observations, preparing supplies, and listening to instruction. When we take our learning outdoors, we will explore plant structures, plant life cycles, and beneficial insects. The live lady bug kit will help to show students that pesky greenhouse insects can be managed without the use of harmful pesticides. Additionally, we will need something strong and sturdy to haul soil, but a durable cart will transport more than just that. It will be a great way to move our tools and supplies from the greenhouse to the outdoor garden. But, best of all will be harvest time! Students will expand their palates by taste testing the bounty of crops that they grow. They won't just read about these topics in a book; they will learn through first-hand experience.

My students are motived, hardworking, and curious. They are excited about what this opportunity holds for them and how it can enrich their learning. Please help take this project a step further by providing The Things so that they can Grow the Greens!
