Growing Fish and Plants Together!

My students need an aquaponics tank with heater and thermometer to teach them about symbiotic relationships.

My Students

My students love taking care of living things in our classroom. They are kind to each other and the living organisms in our environment. Each day, students feed pets, water plants, and clean furniture to make sure their classroom is a pleasant place to be.

The Buttercup Butterflies are a group of diverse learners.

Their ages range from three to six years old. Some have been in the same room for three years! It has been remarkable to watch their growth as learners and people. They love learning science through the study of life cycles and magnetism. In art, they construct the world they see. Overall, the Buttercups are a creative and loving group of learners.

My Project

The students will use the aquaponics tank to learn about the symbiotic relationship between Betta fish and plants. Once the plants are ready, we will use them in the practical life area to cook healthy dishes! The heater will keep our fish warm during the cold Chicago winters. The books will allow my students to lean about Betta fish and aquaponics.

Through this project, my students will have the unique experience of growing plants in a fish tank.

They will understand the intricate relationships that enhance our environment. Also, they will enjoy the healthy snacks we prepare from the herbs farmed in the tank!
