Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Nepal, Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and 92% of the students are students of color. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.
They are students with the capacity to achieve greatness.
My Project
By having access to a variety of engineering-focused activities, my students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills. There are a wide range of activities and games in this project, including laser mazes, Magna tiles, and YOXO building kits. These activities will provide focus and purpose during our Morning Work time and indoor recess (during inclement weather). With these activities, we will continue to develop our scientific minds and build a stronger classroom community. It is an exciting prospect!
