My Students

Preschoolers with disabilities are such an exciting group of children with mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or speak. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and participate in music.

In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.

We are part of a larger school that celebrates inclusion. I teach in a wing of two preschool classes and three developmental classrooms. As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to try small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is focused on building skills to reach inclusion. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

Our pre-k class is growing very quickly and we are in need of replenishing supplies and growing our single use manipulatives. The Teddy Bear Counters will help the students count individually at their desks and learn one-to-one counting during our math sessions. Our students need to have their own manipulatives and crayons, scissors will allow the students to have their own while learning how to cut for the first time. The white board paper will allow us to cover the students' desks so they can write and color on their desks and not have to worry about someone touching their desks.

Because of Covid, the students need their own bear counters to be able to count and touch one to one finger counts.

The scissors will be their own. The dry erase paper is for their individual desk that they must have due to social distancing.

Channie's Dry Erase Alphabet/Number Flash Cards will help the students continue their individual studies at their own desks so they will not have to share as well. The flash cards will help the children practice their writing and phonics at their individual desks while we are learning out phonics lessons on a daily basis.

All the supplies we are requesting will help continue to support our classroom with the growing size so all the students have their own individual items to work with. If we need to go virtual, we are able to pack their own learning supplies and send them home with them.
