Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a brand-new teacher preparing for my first full year in a 1st grade classroom, I want to create a warm, welcoming, and language-rich environment where all of my students feel excited and supported from day one.

I will be teaching 20 incredible students, many of whom are learning English as a second language, and I know how much a vibrant, engaging classroom can make a difference in how they learn and feel.

That’s why I’m requesting The Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed classroom decor and organization materials to help set the tone for a joyful, structured space. This classic story is beloved by children and is perfect for building early literacy skills, introducing days of the week, sequencing, counting, and food vocabulary; all in a fun and accessible way, and it is my favorite children's book!

With your support, I’ll be able to:

Decorate our classroom with Very Hungry Caterpillar visuals and bulletin boards to create a nurturing, literacy-focused atmosphere.

Use matching bins and organizers to create clearly labeled, student-friendly areas so students can easily access books and materials.

Foster a sense of belonging and excitement for learning in my new class from day one.

This project will help me turn a bare classroom into a vibrant home for learning, especially for my English language learners who benefit so much from visual support and thematic connections. Thank you for helping me build a space where all children can grow and thrive.... just like the caterpillar!
