Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of a busy classroom, students can't hear themselves read. My students need a to listen to themselves read to build accuracy and fluency, as well as reading with expression. Many of my students are struggling readers, but they all love and enjoy reading.
I teach a fun bunch of second graders at a Title I school in Dallas, Texas.
My student love books and stories. One of their favorite workstations in our class is independent reading. My students love school and eager to learn all they need to know for this school year and the rest of their lives.
I am requesting a class set of Whisper Phones (4 sets of 6 Whisper Phones). Students will hear themselves clearly while reading. They will be able to self-correct any mistakes and practice reading with expression. Our class will use the Whisper Phones during guided and independent reading.
Second grade is the time when students become more independent readers.
Research has shown that readers who do not read at grade level by the end of third grade fall more and more behind. We need tools that will help readers grow in the area of comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expression. Whisper Phones will help.
