My Project

At our school, we believe that art connects us to the world around us. This year, we’re excited to launch a garden-to-art project where students will plant, grow, and harvest vegetables and wildflowers, then create still-life artworks, inspired by the masters. Our existing school garden serves as a perfect backdrop for this hands-on learning experience that blends science, art, and nature.

This project is particularly meaningful for our deaf and blind students, as it offers a sensory connection to their environment.

They will engage with the texture of soil, the scent of fresh herbs, and the vibrant colors of blooming flowers. This sensory engagement empowers them to create art from their lived experiences, fostering both creativity and self-expression.

To bring this vision to life, we are requesting a garden cart, seeds, garden supplies, and plant food. The garden cart will facilitate easy transport of materials, making gardening accessible. The diverse seeds will include vegetables and wildflowers, providing a rich palette for artistic exploration. Essential supplies like tools and pots will help students care for their plants, while plant food will ensure a thriving garden, leading to a bountiful harvest.

This project will beautify our school and foster community engagement, encouraging parents and local organizations to participate. By growing their own art resources, students will develop a sense of ownership and pride in their creations.
