Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our student-led community garden project empowers students to take active roles in creating a sustainable future for our entire neighborhood. Students will lead all aspects of the initiative, including garden design, community outreach, mentorship programs, and harvest distribution to local food banks. They will organize and conduct educational workshops on eco-friendly practices for community members, coordinate monthly community workdays, and spearhead a neighborhood composting program. This leadership experience will help students develop valuable skills while making a tangible difference in their community.

The project will directly benefit our community by providing fresh, locally-grown produce to residents, including those facing food insecurity.

It will create a beautiful green space for community gatherings, educate residents of all ages about sustainable living practices, improve local biodiversity, and reduce community waste through our composting program. By actively involving local residents in the garden's development and maintenance, we're creating a true community resource that will foster intergenerational connections and continue to grow and benefit our neighborhood for years to come. Through this initiative, our students aim to create a lasting impact on our community's environmental awareness and practices, cultivating a greener, more sustainable future for all.
