My Students
My students are from Milwaukee, Wisconsin attending an MPS school that serves Kindergarten through 8th grade. My community school often serves whole families and students grow up in our school building.
My soon-to-be 1st graders are wonderful little learners that thrive on love and compassion.
They are enthusiastic learners that love to read and engage in material. A majority of my students do not have access to reading material at home and it is crucial that I provide a captivating library for my students to read from to foster their love of reading.
My Project
Having a large and growing classroom library will build my students love for reading. Having a large variety of books will make sure everyone in my classroom will find a book that they will enjoy. It will expose students to topics and ideas that they are unfamiliar with to foster their love for exploration.
Literacy is the foundation of learning and this new library will foster the growth my students need in order to close the achievement gap.
Having access to specific guided reading leveled books will make sure that students chose the right book at their level for independent reading so they will not get discouraged.
