My Students
I am the proud teacher of 20 first grade students who are eager and happy to come to school each day. They truly love learning new things and are excited about school! I want to provide them with the best possible 1st grade learning experience, so they will be prepared for 2nd grade and beyond!
My awesome first graders attend a rural Title I school.
Many of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and many are economically disadvantaged. Being in such a rural area, many of them do not have access to technology and other resources. Even getting to a library can be a struggle! Although I try to expose them to as many new experiences and resources as I can, my paycheck only stretches so far.
My Project
These Chromebooks will make a HUGE difference in my students' learning and achievement. While our district just funded several Chromebooks for testing purposes, these will only be used by students in grades 3-5. We do not have access to any laptops in our grade, except for in technology class.
Currently, my classroom does have a few old desktop computers. These computers have turned into more of a hassle than anything. I have spent hours planning activities for math and literacy work stations, only to have to scrap these plans last minute because the computers will not connect to the internet or load the program correctly. Right now, they are just taking up space.
I want to provide useful technology for my first graders so they can take their learning to a whole new level!
These new computers will allow my students to type stories, watch science videos, complete math and reading enrichment and intervention activities, among other things.
These 21st Century learners need access to this technology in order to help propel them into future success, in and out of school.
