My Students

"The desire to write grows with writing."-Desiderius Erasmus Help me grow my 1st graders' desire to write. All it will take is a few basic supplies to really help them blossom.

All of my students are learning English as a second language.

Our school is in a high poverty area where all students are provided with free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also one of the oldest in the neighborhood, almost 100 years old, and we don't have many new resources to share with the children. My students really need new ways to build their vocabulary and improve their writing.

My Project

The primary composition books will be really special for the students because they will be able to use illustrations to enhance their writing, and they will be able to look back and see how their writing has progressed throughout the year. The laminating machine will also allow us to keep and showcase their best work and give parents the opportunity to savor the memories of their child's first grade year. First graders often have a difficult time focusing on their tasks, so using the privacy partitions will help them concentrate on themselves. These can be used throughout the day, especially during testing times. I also requested writing prompts to help those little writers who get stumped for ideas.
