My Students

As adolescents, students enter my classroom trying to figure out who they are as individuals. They want to fit in, but be unique at the same time. They want to be independent, but still need some help navigating the world around them. They want to learn without admitting they don't know everything yet.

The young adults I teach want to have choices and be involved in their own journey of discovery.

The students attend a preK-8 school located in a small, close-knit community in Vermont. There are about 650 students enrolled, and many of the students that attend school here are children of former students. The students come from many different backgrounds and have a variety of needs. The school is growing and changing from year to year and with that, there is a more diverse population of student needs.

My Project

My classroom bookcase still has some empty shelves, especially the nonfiction section. Please help me grow the classroom library.

My students need some engaging books to fall in love with.

They have picked out some books they'd be interested in. I added to their selections some young adult bestsellers. It is hard to help them develop a love for reading and learning when I have few books to offer them. Little by little, my classroom library is growing. I've planted the seeds and your help watering this garden can only lead to wonderful, blooming minds, full of inspiration and curiosity.
