This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At NMS, our students are so excited to start our new school garden. Growing a school garden is a part of our Health & Wellness class, an initiative that can help students gain self-confidence and develop empathy via teamwork and collaboration. Gardens have a myriad of wellness benefits!

Another goal is to deepen students' connection to the source of their food, which can challenge their perception of vegetables and encourage them to build healthy consumption habits.

Gardening not only offers students the opportunity to connect with nature and observe their environment but also helps students feel calmer. This project will be a powerful tool to stimulate student curiosity about the natural world and impact them in making healthy food choices as they grow.
