My Project
My student love graphic novels/comic books! They are funny, easy to read, and most importantly, relatable to them at their age. Typically, graphic novels are the first books off of our library's shelves. As a first-year teacher, I am working towards growing my classroom's library so my kids can have books that interest them. In addition to the classroom library, I want them to be easily assessable for the kids which led me to add a bookshelf to my list as well.
The best thing about graphic novels is that all kids can read them whether they are an experienced reader or a struggling reader. They are the perfect option to help grow students' interest in reading. Though graphic novels are a start, the goal is to create a classroom that craves reading because it is what will help their creativity and academic vocabulary flourish. In my classroom, I want to provide my students with things they will love. I believe this is what makes a classroom environment feel more safe and comfortable.
