Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In inner-city Philadelphia, my students exhibit remarkable curiosity and a hunger for hands-on learning experiences. Despite lacking outdoor green spaces, they show a deep interest and appreciation for mother nature. Bringing the hydroponic herb garden to our classroom will allow them to cultivate gardening skills and witness the fruits of their labor firsthand. With the hydroponic system, seeds, and fertilizer, they'll take ownership of their learning, fostering teamwork and responsibility. This project not only teaches plant biology and sustainability but also instills pride and accomplishment.

My students, resilient despite challenges, possess an unwavering spirit and thirst for knowledge.

Hailing from underserved communities, they're eager to thrive academically and make a positive impact. Access to innovative learning like the hydroponic herb garden and eco-focused books empowers them to realize their potential. They're not just capable academically; they're passionate about making a difference.

My aim is to create a nurturing environment where students explore gardening and environmental stewardship. Through hands-on activities, they'll witness the growth of their herb garden, broadening their understanding of environmental issues. I hope to inspire them to become advocates for positive change in their communities. By combining practical experience with educational resources, we'll cultivate a love for nature and sustainability that resonates for years.
