The community we live in has a diverse population with many working parents. The students I work with have a limited vocabulary and trouble processing. In my school the students strive from group work and guided groups. We are encouraging them with more hands on experiences by taking trips through out the year as well as incorporating technology into the classroom. This year I will be working with students who have IEPs and others who are ESL students.
My Project
I believe in cooperative learning and encouraging group work and having a kidney shaped table which will allow my students to meet with me and work cooperatively to meet their goals. They will work on small group instruction on their levels together and also independently. I will be able to oversee where they are struggling and facilitate when needed. It will also help when I need to assess the students and need a space for them to meet me. We use groups throughout the day and the students would know the designated area. It will allow the students to meet with me daily and feel comfortable while working.
