This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 4-5th grade teacher in a low-income area. My students are 98% Hispanic. I am charged with teaching a reading class with 36 students

When I taught my students Greek and Latin word roots, they became fascinated with Greek and Roman mythology.

As a result of this fascination, they have read the first two books in the Percy Jackson series, about the Greek myths.

I love to see my students so excited by learning these myths. When they read The Lightening Thief, it was wonderful to see them grasping the virtue of persistence from the example of the Greek hero, Perseus.

My Project

I think one of the foundations of a good education involves learning what we inherited from the Greeks and Romans. Greek and Roman mythology is part of this foundation.

As a result of reading the first two books in the Percy Jackson series (Greek myths), my students have become fascinated by Greek mythology.

I believe it will make a big difference in my students learning about the Greek and Roman myths if I am able to purchase the rest of the books in this series (more Greek myths and Roman myths). I want my students to continue to be able to read material that already fascinates the
