Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my first year as a teacher and the classroom I am taking over is starting from scratch. The theme for our classroom is Groovy Vibes, our classroom will be full of smiley faces and flowers to help cultivate a happy learning environment. The laminator machine will help me decorate my classroom and laminate all my decorations so that I can repurpose them year after year.
As a first-year teacher I don't have any organizing furniture in my classroom but the organizing cart will allow students to help themselves to school supplies their families are unable to provide for them.
Several teachers have expressed the importance of having a safe space where students can select school supplies without having to ask a teacher or peer.
In addition, my students attend a Title I school and reading is a huge challenge; however the four daisy lounge pillows will serve two purposes, first, it will allow students to sit more comfortably in our reading nook, and second, it will make the reading area more appealing and somewhere students want to go to.
I also have several supplies with smiley faces to help incentivize students to perform at their highest academic abilities. Third graders are very competitive and thrive on a rewards system and something as simple as a pencil will make a child want to achieve even higher goals.
The yellow folders will help serve as a means of communication between my students' families and myself. Students will take their folders to and from school every single day that is why plastic durable folders are very valuable for my students.
