Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders love to learn through music! A catchy tune allows learning to be fun!

My energetic first grade students come from a poverty stricken neighborhood with gangs, drugs, and the challenges of the community.

Often times, my students come to school with the weight of the world on their little shoulders. Yes, we are talking 6 and 7 year old children. My school educates approximately 900 students. 89% are from poverty stricken households. We serve free breakfast and lunch to our students. My school is set in a large urban city. My school is a safe zone for learning!

My Project

Have you ever leaned a song because it has a catchy beat? Well, this method also helps my students learn the required Common Core standards which are mandated by my state. By, donating an iPod touch, it will allow me to put all of these "catchy tunes" in one location. My students will be able to enjoy math, language arts, multicultural, and science songs on this device. As well as, it being portable to take wherever we travel on the school grounds! How exciting!!

Through your thoughtful donations, it will allow my energetic first graders to continue their enthusiasm for learning through music!

They will have a chance to compete in the world, even though the odds are stacked against them.
