My Students

My students and their parents are trying to find their way in this new world of remote learning. We are in an urban school district that supports our students with basic needs such as breakfast and lunch, hoping that is enough, and continue to provide these essentials during this most difficult time. We look around our homes, recycling bins, and cabinets to create a functional activity for our students and then ask the parents to try to do the same. My students require specialized assistance to support them in school and we feel helpless at times to see the struggle.

My Project

Please help me give my students the ability to access this distant learning at home during the coronavirus pandemic by providing support to hold tools and offer sensory input to stay attentive to online learning when so much around them can be overwhelming.

My students may have weak or underdeveloped fine motor skills and the various grips will optimize their motor control, allowing more attention to the actual printing and less effort to holding the pencil.

The chewy tools provide a deep pressure input that will help my students maintain a calm body and improve their focus during online classroom and teletherapy sessions.
