This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Work ethic, pride, desire, determination, loyalty, hustle and team spirit are the staples of GATOR BASEBALL. But the backbone of the baseball program is funded via fundraising and donations. Our athletics program has also been recognized by Sports Illustrated as #1 in the State of Nevada.

Our school is Newsweek’s Top Public Schools 2003-013, is named one of top 51 High Schools in the US, Redbook Magazine, has 144 National Merit Finalists, 53 Presidential Scholars, 266 Presidential Award for Academic Excellence, 55 National Forensic League All-American Scholars, 384 International Baccalaureate Diplomas Awarded, 788 students earning AP Honors, and 97.7% of IB Graduates attending a Four-Year College, representing our commitment to excellence in education.

Our students embody the role of not only athlete, but scholar. Students are multifaceted and success driven many playing multiple sports during an academic school year while maintaining a strict 2.0 GPA for the fall semester in order to try out for the program. Students pride themselves on a maintaining a team that embodies a family ensuring that all team members are successful academically and athletically. Our program is built on a team of community partners all supporting our Gator baseball players.

My Project

Students will use the balls for practice drills as well as on game day. A sample of a baseball practice schedule using baseballs might look like is: Form throwing, Fielding, Pitching, and Hitting drills are the foundational skill sets practiced using practice baseballs. The game day balls are needed for both JV and Varsity Games.

Baseball gives Gator students the structure and freedom to be young adults while making good decisions for their future.

Students not only have fun, but also learn important lessons for their future like teamwork, sportsmanship and dealing with adversity. Like so many sports, the lessons learned in baseball are analogous to many important life lessons. Through baseball fundamentals, we focus on developing important life skills like leadership and problem solving, and model character values.
