Greening Up The School Greenhouse

My Project

The school greenhouse is looking sparse, and we'd like to fix that! Over the past few years we have used the greenhouse for class projects and experiments, including growing herbs for the culinary classes here, but we'd like to take things in a different direction.

We would like to implement a school horticulture club to grow plants to enhance the campus, teach students about sustainable growing techniques, and introduce students to the idea of running a small business.

In addition to simple seed germination, students will learn propagation techniques such as air layering, cloning through cuttings, and the basics of grafting. After the program is up and running, it is our intent to provide Fall and Spring plants for the community.

The students will be directly involved in what we grow, how much of it, and ordering of new materials. The materials requested here would be used to get the project off the ground and will supplement what we already have in the greenhouse, giving us the opportunity to expand.
