This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help my students to understand the Greenhouse Effect! This lab provides students with a hands on experience to better comprehend this concept. Students will create a "solar oven" with pizza boxes and shoe boxes and will see which ones are able to capture the most solar energy to heat their s'mores. Students will use their boxes, glue, tape, plastic wrap, tin foil and black paper to try and build the best solar oven that can cook their s'mores in the period. Students will spend a few days in their groups trying to design the best oven and then they will see their idea come to fruition. Throughout the lab students are seeing how the sun heats our planet and are able to enjoy a tasty treat at the end. This is one of their favorite labs throughout the year and having these materials would make it much more functional and educational.
