This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our schools Green Tigers are excited to dig into gardening. Seventy-two percent of students at our school receive free or reduced lunches. Although many of our students come from tough situations, our staff has created a welcoming, warm community where students can feel safe and nurtured. Our school garden brings students together.
The Green Tigers Garden Club members learn life skills by planting food and then using the food to make yummy recipes.
My Project
A rototiller will help our garden club dig our way to success. Students in the Green Tigers garden club have been reaping the benefits of sowing seeds for almost a decade now. Recently we learned that our district is not able to help us with soil prep and a rototiller will help us get a great start every spring.
Having the use of our own rototiller will help students learn how to prep soil and help to have a good start in planting vegetables and flowers.
Students will then go on to make pickles, salsa, squash soup, and more with smiles the whole way!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
