Green Spaces: Cultivating Wellness and Beauty

My Project

Our project aims to create an indoor garden within our school, promoting both environmental sustainability and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of our learning environment. This initiative will not only focus on growing air-purifying plants and beautiful flowers but will also involve students in hands-on learning experiences that will foster a deeper understanding of gardening and eco-friendly practices.

We have been working hard on our indoor garden and cleaning up outdoors with the tools we have and propagated plants from seeds and a few donated plants.

The grabber tools and trash bags, and gardening gloves will help to easily and quickly pick up trash from the school grounds.

We need soil to plant the seeds or propagations and the pots to place the soil in. Some plants will thrive better in well drained soil, therefore, perlite will support this. The grow bags will give students another way to plant and see the roots of their plant while growing. The kids gardening tool set will allow students to have tools to use while gardening.

We would like to test the soil that our school is located on, to determine if any action would be needed as well as the soil we are using for our plants. We would like to test the quality of the water that we are using for our plants as well as test the water in the stream next to our school, to check for pollutants.

The surge protector will be very useful to plug our indoor greenhouse lights into. Our room location does not face the sun for much of the day and our plants needs more light support and the outlets are far from the greenhouses.

We can use the bookmarks for the next Earth Day activity.
