Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My enthusiastic learners come from a working class community where their parents work long hours to support them. Many of my students participate in the school's reduced-priced/free lunch program as well as extended after-school care where a few of them stay until sun-down. Additionally, my phenomenal students are engaging in their third year of STEM learning.
The kids come to school ready and eager to learn with curious minds!
Last year, the students were exposed to the fundamentals of coding using iPads, created short films with iMovie, and engaged in various activities regarding engineering. This year, in third grade, I want to expand on their prior knowledge, using current 21st century learning tools!
My Project
A classroom full of learners wanting to express themselves in innovative ways is what i'm facing. My magnet students want to showcase their learning in new and creative ways. A green screen and stand will give my students the opportunity to create fun and engaging videos to express and share their knowledge.
Let's face it, the 21st century learner needs 21st century tools.
A pen and paper can only go so far in a technology driven world. These young minds need technology tools to create content that will catch the attention of others!
