This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Designing sustainable solutions to climate change is one of the forefront challenges facing our planet today. In this capstone middle school science unit, students will work in engineering teams to explore and design green energy solutions through 3 projects:
In the Energy Expo, 8th grade student teams will to use Snap Circuit Kits to model, demonstrate and present alternative sources of energy to each other.
With the Wind Turbine kit, teams will design and test the most efficient Wind Turbine. In the Penguin Dwelling Challenge, students will test the various materials and design structures as insulators to help keep a frozen ice penguin from melting.
The hands-on and creative nature of this unit and the clear applications to world climate issues will be sure to make this project one to remember, and may help to shape future engineers and climate innovators. Your contribution can make a difference in making this unit tangible, creative and scientific!
