My Students

1st and 2nd graders are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed. Our goal as a classroom is that we enter the classroom each day ready to try new things and to be brave to make mistakes. Mistakes lead to learning. As a teacher in an impoverished urban area, we struggle to have access to resources needed to provide a quality 21st-century education for each learner. My goal is to provide an equitable education for each student in our classroom.

I teach eager and enthusiastic learners, who need these resources to reach their full potential.

My Project

As I continue to do work with climate justice curriculum in our district, I have realized I can better my work by putting it into action with my learners. I want my learners to develop a respect and appreciation for the world around them. My goal is through project is to get the resources to create a green classroom.

What is Green Classroom?

A green classroom is one that is more conscious and caring about the environment and the people that are part of it. I want my learners to know that they can make a positive impact on their community. Our green classroom will be one that educates about important issues facing the planet. Lastly, the goal is to encourages eco-conscious practices through what we do daily in classroom.

The project breakdown is as followed:

1. Picture books will be used to teach and guide eco-conscious practices throughout the school year.

2. Lamps will be used to help grow plants in our classroom, then moving those plants in our school garden.

3. Classroom greenhouse will be used to store and hold classroom plants. Instead of classroom pets, we will have classroom plants. We speaks for the trees and the plants.

4. Green Kits: Use to build on green practices and technology that will build critical thinking.
