This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to develop the strong foundation they need to be successful adults. By exposing my students to Greek and Roman Mythology they will be more familiar with common sayings such as Pandora's Box, Midas Touch, and Achilles Heel.

My students are brilliant.

They are curious about the world around them and eager to learn! My students are English Language Learners, many of the them are recent immigrants. My students love reading myths, folk tales and fables from around the world! Students learn about the past and are able to apply the lessons presented to their lives. After reading these stories my students enjoy creating their own myths and legends.

My Project

I will expand my students' vocabulary and ability to breakdown challenging words by teaching them Greek and Latin roots. My students will be exposed to important Greek Gods such as Zeus, Athena, Hercules, Apollo and so on. Being familiar with Greek Mythology is an essential foundation for their educational career. With engaged texts and multiple copies of the books we can read the books in small literature circles and in book clubs. With the Reader's Theater Plays we can present in front of lower grade peers; this will allow my students the opportunity to practice their language skills as well as public speaking.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom because students will have an opportunity to read high interest texts.

Students will expand their vocabulary and learn about Greek and Roman Mythology. This donation will change my students for the better because they will have the opportunity to read in small groups with support from the teacher. After reading students will have the opportunity to do writing and art extensions to build on their knowledge.
