I teach twelve 4 year-olds in an inclusive preschool program for at risk students. Our school serves approximately 750 students up to 2nd grade and we have about 70 preschoolers who are enrolled in 6 pre-k classes. Due to the large enrollment at our school and our lunch schedule, all the preschool students must visit the playground simultaneously. This is a challenge due to the fact that we don't have enough variety of gross motor activities. Statistics and research are saying that today's children are less active and obese earlier than ever before. There are so many benefits to daily exercise and, as a Preschool Teacher, I want to do my part to encourage healthy habits for students. I am asking for 3 age-appropriate picnic tables which will be used for a variety of outdoor interactions such as art, socializing, language development and picnics. We have a good number of balls, but are asking for 3 basketball goals appropriate for 4 year olds. I believe that "it takes a village to raise a child". Thank you in advance for any contribution you feel led to make for this endeavor. We all know the importance of raising healthy children.
