Our school specializes in providing a well rounded education to students who face emotional and behavioral challenges.
These very intelligent sixth through eighth grade students receive services in a self contained program called CHOICES (Children Having Opportunities In Choosing Educational Success). As academic success is achieved, the students focus their energy on the key components of the program: classroom safety, basic respect, and self initiation.
Running our version of "Starbucks on wheels" has been a huge success both individually and as a community.
This project will help my students continue their mobile coffee cart club, aptly named The CHOICES Coffee Makers. This cart offers an impressive range of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The students bring the cart to the teacher's classroom, personally take their order, brew the beverage in a Keurig machine, write a message on the cup and then deliver the hot drink to the teachers.
Think Starbucks on wheels run by students to treat teachers!
With this coffee cart, the students will have the opportunity to learn the social skills needed for future employment and social success. They will practice meeting and greeting customers, being on time for work, working collaboratively with others, dressing appropriately, financing and understanding accountability.

Running this cart helps us to practice our manners, learn new job skills and interact with tons of staff members. We are the only students at school who get to run the coffee cart. We look forward to our monthly meetings were we practice our skills as president, vice president and treasurer of the club.
