This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a school full of sweeties who love to read! The students (800 students, grades PreK-4) are avid readers who love their library. Our student population is 95% free and reduced lunch and we simply do not have funding for extras. I would like to transform the library into our solar system and simulate having students enter astronaut school. Students will read books, role play, and experiment with light. This project will purchase books and supplies to make this exciting adventure happen!
My Project
My students are inquirers! They love to learn and explore. I plan to use a space theme across all grade levels to drive the inquiry process and create a sense of I wonder. The materials I selected are a combination of books, plush of the planets, space display materials, and objects for play. In addition, I will create QR codes that link to resources for further learning on the topic. With your donation, I will be able to bring space alive while meeting both school wide and core curriculum goals related to the sciences and inquiry leaning for all of my students.
