My class is made up of an extraordinary group of students, a group of students that are the hardest subgroup to show academic growth!
Academic and Intellectually Gifted students deserve to have meaningful educational opportunities and grow in their learning.
As an Academically and Intellectually Gifted specialist, I help facilitate the learning of 35 gifted students in 4th and 5th grades. We focus on the areas of reading, math, and nonverbal skills. These students love learning and need the tools necessary to enrich their studies.
My Project
The use of drones for problem solving is a hands-on, minds-on way of incorporating coding, deductive reasoning, and problem solving using a device used in the military, as well as other professions.
From learning how to code the drones using Tynker, flying obstacle courses, hitting targets, and replicating the World War II "candy drop", students will be engaged in the process of problem solving and using deductive reasoning.
Many students are from families that work for the military, this project will show students the wide range of uses for drones- not just as a toy or as a war tool, but for other problem solving as well.
